Spring Transition Update at Twisted Oaks
Spring has arrived, and with it comes the annual transition period on the golf course. This seasonal change marks the time when our overseeded winter grass begins to die off due to rising temperatures, while the underlying bermudagrass starts emerging from its winter dormancy.
Every golf course aims for a seamless transition—one where playing conditions remain consistent and minimally impacted. Achieving this balance involves three key factors: chemical treatments, mechanical maintenance, and help from Mother Nature. At Twisted Oaks, we utilize all three to carefully phase out the winter grass and encourage strong bermudagrass growth.
Thanks to the overall health of our bermudagrass heading into winter last year, we are optimistic about a smooth transition this spring. However, it’s worth noting that we experienced a colder and wetter winter than usual, which could influence the pace and effectiveness of the process. It’s still a bit early to tell what impact, if any, that may have.
